Owner, Technology management consulting

Technology Management Consulting was created in January, 1995 to serve the technology needs of individuals and micro-businesses in southern mid-coast Maine. Most computer service companies quickly discover that there is more money to be made from fewer customers by tapping the larger commercial markets than by serving individuals. Having been frustrated over the years trying to find someone to come to my home and provide needed services, I decided to make that my personal business niche.

What I sell is time and expertise, not hardware.  I can obtain whatever hardware is required, but don’t sell it without also installing it. In Maine, that restriction allows me to provide the items while paying sales tax up front and not collecting it from my clients as a separate charge.  It also means I represent no particular company, so I can go to the marketplace and find the best solution for my client’s issues, rather than feeling as though I need to fit their needs into whatever solution I might sell. It’s an important distinction that leaves me able to do my work wholly independently.

My role is that of of Chief Information Officer for individuals and small businesses. My management experience and training allow me to quickly understand the business issues surrounding technology questions so I can assist with technology planning. I can then help with acquisition, installation, testing, and management of computers, networks, wide area connections, and computer operating systems. I work in both Windows and Macintosh environments.  I have also expanded, over the years, into Local Internet Marketing, Websites, Mobile Websites, and Social Media (especially optimization of LinkedIn Profiles).
